7th ANNUAL AFRICAN AMERICAN HERITAGE FESTIVAL CONTINUES THE LEGACY OF PROVIDING THE MOST UNIQUE CULTURAL EXPERIENCE |

Baltimore, MD – In association with the City of Baltimore, community leaders and citizen volunteers, organizers of the African American Heritage Festival are proud to present the 7th Annual African American Heritage Festival June 27-29, 2008 at M & T Bank Lots B and C. This annual event features interactive and educational exhibits, exciting children’s corner, ethnic foods, variety of art, local and national talent. National headline artists have included Patti Labelle, Erykah Badu, Chaka Khan, Doug E. Fresh, LL Cool J, Nancy Wilson and Frankie Beverly featuring Maze.

The Heritage Festival is a family celebration of African American history, culture, art, music and education. In addition to offering a variety of foods, art displays, carnival rides and extensive health screenings the festival is proud to feature a comprehensive eclectic range of music on two stages including: reggae, soul, jazz, rhythm and blues, and gospel enticing for all ages |

Attracting over three million people in six years, the African American Heritage Festival is proud to be the premier festival in the Mid-Atlantic region. While the festival celebrates the historic contributions of African Americans, visitors to the event, regardless of ethnicity, will enjoy a unique cultural experience. |

Among the featured attractions at this years Festival include: |

- Education Pavilion, a cornerstone of the festival, this popular attraction showcases African American history and provides visitors energetic exhibitions, performing arts and activities and offers knowledge in areas such as technology, higher education and financial independence. Guests will meet popular community leaders and participate in life-altering competitions

- The Health Pavilion, a crucial component to the Festival, has created a gateway for attendees to focus on complete wellness in a dedicated health structure. Qualified and trained volunteers from the Maryland statewide health network will be on site to provide screenings for diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol, vision, dental, podiatry, immunizations, weight consultations, and scheduled health and fitness programming. Mayor Sheila Dixon will lead hundreds in the second annual 1.5 Mile walk around historic downtown Baltimore.

- The Children’s Pavilion will return with amusement rides, scheduled programming to include interesting speakers, live entertainment, interactive activities and special friends beloved by children.

Friday, June 27 – 5 p.m. – 10 p.m.
Saturday, June 28 – 12 p.m. – 10 p.m.
Sunday, June 29 – 12 p.m. – 8 p.m.
